The root of all misery is duality. There is no other remedy for it except the realisation that all objects of experience are unreal and that I am pure, One, Consciousness and Bliss.
– Ashtavakra Samhita II.16

What is this in us that drives a man to paapa, as if by force, even against his own struggling will ?
It is kama– attachment, and its perennial consequence krodha– agitation, children of rajas, all-devouring, all-polluting; this is the great enemy of knowledge.
As a fire is covered over by smoke, as a mirror by dust, as an embryo is wrapped by the amnion, so this envelopes.
Enveloped is knowledge by this eternal enemy in the form of kama which is like an insatiable fire.”

bhagavad gita 3.36-3.39

They say that money is an enticement.
It is not so.
They say that landed property is an enticement.
It is not so.
The real enticement is the insatiable appetite of the mind.

– Allama Prabhu, Vacana 91

When your views on the world and your intellect are being challenged and you begin to feel uncomfortable because of a contradiction you’ve detected that is threatening your current model of the world or some aspect of it, pay attention. You are about to learn something. This discomfort and intellectual conflict is when learning is taking place
